Welcome to the "About PB" section. There's many facets that make up who/what I am, and this page is here to share those with whomever seems to be interested. A lot of people don't fully understand me, and I'd by lying if I said I fully understood myself, but this is an attempt, none the less, to try to explain various things to people who might be interested. There's 4 sub-sections that are relevant. Click the appropriate link to go straight to that section: You may wonder what the difference is (or argue there isn't one) between on-line and on IRC. This is where most people seem to misunderstand me the most...

Professional Life

I can't really talk about my job much these days... Between this one, and the last one, I've gotten more and more involved in jobs where security is tight to the point it extends to disclosing what I do exactly, and in the case right now, even who I work for. The US Govt is involved, this time, more directly. So, um, yea.

On IRC

IRC is "my domain". I consider myself raised by 2 things, growing up, and IRC is one of them. Since I first got on-line in 1992, I've been on IRC on a regular basis. I've been an IRC Operator since 1996, and have run IRC servers and networks before. Currently I'm a Network Admin, and the Security Director for GameSurge. I ran a leaf server for them a while ago, and stillparticipate in several committees. For more information about my duties on GameSurge, check out my staff profile.

You can find me mostly in linux related channels, though I also idle in staff channels should somebody need help. I'm mostly pretty easy going, but have a thing for stupid people and CS players (really, they're the same thing) and have a certain "edge" that comes with being a network admin/irc operator on a large network. I'm fully approchable to any problem, but I require people to be specific, not whine, not threaton, and try to/be willing to help themself. If they don't care, why should I? Over all, I'm not too different on IRC than I am in person. I know what my boundaries are, I expect people to respect them, and in turn I respect theirs. While I may be slightly arrogant and protective of the network, I'm there mostly for the users - we wouldn't have a network for me to protect with out them. I also share the same principles with my professional life though: I don't let 4 or 5 bad eggs spoil the whole lot. I will sacrafice 5 pain in the ass users to keep 50,000 from their asshattery.

On-Line

Contrary to IRC, most things in my on-line life I take with a grain of salt. I don't take threats very seriously unless I have reason to. I chat with my friends on AIM and ICQ, I code websites, I admin my server to keep my sites on-line, I play games, and I'm basically just like anybody else on-line. I don't run at the mouth, and I don't say anything I can't back up. I'm not a troll, and I don't feed those that are. Over all, I'm just a normal on-line netizen who reads websites, posts comments on forums, maintains their own site, and from time to time, publishes things in a few places that I want to share with the world. Unlike IRC, on-line I have an opinion and I don't care what others think about it. I also don't answer to anybody, which means that I don't deal too well with things/people I don't want to deal with. Unlike IRC, I'll speak my complete mind, and come off as a bit more of a jerk in my replies, should it be warrented. You'd have to know me on-line to understand what I mean by this. The biggest difference between my IRC life and my on-line life, is on IRC I have power, and responsability that I take very seriously. Everywhere else, I don't have the image of the network to uphold, nor the responsability to be helpful if I don't think the person requesting it is worth my time, or if I don't agree with what they're doing.

Off-Line

Off-line I'm pretty much the same as I am on-line, with a few small differences. Off-line, I play paintball, go climbing, or snowboarding (none of them very well), and I do know how to live. I just choose not to most of the time, and spend it in front of the computer.
